FITZGIBBON REVEALED
Joe Fitzgibbon · House Majority Leader · Olympia

Joe Fitzgibbon:
Drunk on power
or just drunk?

Joe Fitzgibbon is waging a disgraceful one-man fight against taxpayers in Washington state — pushing through a state income tax for the first time in history. He showed up drunk at the hearing, outraging Democrats and Republicans. Next, he tried to gerrymander Congressional districts so his team would always win.

Petty partisan fighter for high taxes

01 — The TaxThe press calls him one of the tax’s architects.

As House Majority Leader, Fitzgibbon led the majority that pushed ESSB 6346 — Washington’s new 9.9% income tax — through the House, 51–46, after more than 24 hours of floor debate.

The law he celebrated says it plainly: “Only individuals are subject to payment of the tax.” Corporations pay $0 of this tax.

02 — The MapsHe sponsored the mid-decade redistricting amendment.

Fitzgibbon sponsored HJR 4209 — a constitutional amendment to let Olympia redraw congressional districts mid-decade. It died in committee — it never even got a vote.

Taxing without a referendum. Redrawing maps between censuses. Same leader, same year.

03 — The Job“Being impaired in that situation was harmful to my work.”

In February 2026, while the Appropriations Committee was still doing the public’s budget work, the House Majority Leader was impaired — on TVW video, by his own admission.

His words. His apology. The public’s business.

Joe Fitzgibbon is the most destructive official to enter Washington State politics in a generation. Petty, partisan, and ignorant of economics.

— About Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon, sponsor of HJR 4209, the mid-decade redistricting amendment

When he wanted higher taxes, he wrote a law for an unconstitutional income tax. When he wanted more Congressional seats he tried again to rewrite Washington’s constitution so politicians could redraw the maps between censuses. His own party’s Senate leader said there was no path for it to pass — and it died without ever getting out of committee.
